Palm oil: monthly World Bank benchmark
Palm oil: monthly World Bank benchmark. The World Bank compiles this Malaysian palm-oil benchmark. Palm oil is oil from the fruit of the oil palm, used in food and household products; it is different from palm-kernel oil. Each point is a monthly average in U.S. dollars per metric ton (1,000 kg). It is a commodity benchmark, not a retail shelf price or a futures contract. Prices are not adjusted for inflation. Exchange rates, processing and delivery costs can make local product prices move differently. Historical values may be revised. Palm oil: world production, consumption and stocks
Palm oil: world production, consumption and stocks. USDA FAS is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Its PSD (Production, Supply and Distribution) database estimates annual palm-oil balances. A marketing year is the crop’s accounting period and varies by country. Labels retain USDA’s year code, not a common January–December period. Units are thousand tons: 1,000 means one million tons. Production and consumption are amounts over the year. Ending stocks are oil remaining at its end, shown separately; do not add stocks to either line or infer price from one indicator alone. Recent years include estimates, not completed-year facts. USDA revises these annual figures monthly; the data-through field is the report’s reference month, not a collection time or a forecast endpoint.
